A solid 5mm rim sidewall helps minimize the risk of impact damage by broadening the contact point between a sharp or square-edged object and the rim and tire. This also allows riders to forgo heavy tire inserts, which means less unsprung weight for better suspension performance.
WIDE GUARD TECHNOLOGY
Lab tests simulated pinch flat scenarios by pressinga sharp, square-edged block against the tire until it hit the rim edge and punctured the tire. In test after test, the TRX WheelSystem withstood the highest impact forces without flatting, outperforming previous generation TRX and other top wheels in the category by up to 44 percent.
A broad 30mm inner rim width and robust 5mm sidewalls allow for much lower tire pressure, giving you better traction and control on rough, technical climbs and descents. A low 22mm rim depth further improves compliance and ride feel.
The combination of a lightweight carbon rim layup and industry-leading 72-tooth pawl driver results in rapid power transfer as you pedal over obstacles and accelerate out of corners. In the rear, an oversized drive-side hub body bearing, axle and ring nut combine with enlarged pawls to increase stiffness and durability.
The E-bike specific E-TRX WheelSystem shares the same features and technologies but with an extra-strong steel axle and driver body on the rear hub to handle added forces and torque.
